Buffalo Bags

This month, 5J city read the story “Buffalo Hunt”. To learn more about the use of the amazing buffalo, Ms. Johnson had us collect ten things that represented the goods that were of the buffalo. They didn’t have to be real things made of the buffalo, you could draw three, you could print out three, and bring in three items. I know that equals nine but we could add on one to our favorite category. Some people brought in all ten things. There were some pretty cool things like a real buffalo skull, buffalo jerky, and more! I learned that the gut would be used to make string and that the bladder was used to make bouncy balls. I could have never thought of that if I were a Native American. Great job 5J city! J

Learning to Dance

This week, we will take our next dance lesson from Hubbard Street Dance. Last week, we started warming up and making up dance moves that we use everyday such as zip down, pull up, nudge and brush off. We had lots of fun working with Hubbard Street. Our second lesson is tomorrow!

Current Events

The most current events that are happening this week are: Read-a-thon, Dinner & a movie, presenting Heritage projects, and Holiday party. The Read-a-thon was on Monday. We got to sit down wherever and read our favorite books. Our dinner & movie is happening on Thursday. We are going to Come up for lunch and eat pizza and watch a movie ( Home Alone ). We started presenting our heritage projects on Monday. They have been looking great! :) Finaly, our Holiday party is on Friday. You can leave a comment for ideas for the party. Thanks in advance: The editors of Classroom News.

Heritage Projects

For our Open Court unit (Heritage) we have been doing heritage projects. So far, the Heritage projects have been: family trees, cookbooks, brochures, interviews, and poems. Nina and Sydney made cookbooks and brought some of the food from their books. Sydney brought Wacky Cake and Nina brought Flan. They were both delectable. All of the projects were great so far. I can't wait to see the rest of the projects!! We will be posting more pictures as we present them.

Holiday Party

Our Christmas party is going to be a blast because we have new presidents which are Sydney and Nathan. They would be very happy if most of the kids brought in food, eating things, and music. The party is this Friday. We also might bring in Wii so if you think you have a great game for Wii talk to Sydney & Nathan.
